Reth were formed in August 2000 by school-mates Matthew 'Jim' Bentley (Guitar) and Elliot Smith (Drums). Over the course of the following 7 years that brings us up to the present, there has been many different members enter the Reth fold, (old school-mates Nathan 'Speckers' Robinson (Guitar), Patrick Walton (Vocals), Phil 'Toz' Torriero (Bass), David Wells (replaced Toz on bass for a while), Dan Shaw (ex-Super Agonizer, then with the now defunct Beecher, who stepped in on a July 2003 UK tour after Speckers suffered a badly broken hand just a week before going out on the road), and forming the rest of the line up along with Jim and Smith are Paul Priest (Bass - ex-Canvas, Narcosis & Tangaroa) who joined in Summer 2005), second guitarist Matt Wells (Wellsy Jnr.) who joined mid-2006, and most recently in June 2007, Reese (ex-Microsleeper) who has replaced long term shrieker Walton on vocals.

With a mixture of laziness, commitment difficulties, university and general life, the first 5 years of Reth and their gigging experience has been somewhat slow, having played around 40 gigs in that time, (including supports for D.R.I., Skindred, My War & Strife), and playing with a host of the cream of the UK underground extreme scene, (amongst others, Narcosis, Labrat, Tangaroa, Johnny Mental, Art of Burning Water, Charger), but recently since the return of bass into their sound, the addition of a second guitar, Reth's new 5-piece on a mission attitude completes a band knowing that the Reth time has now come, and with confidence and happiness in the technical ability of their playing, the gigs have started to happen more frequently.

In the last 2 years (up to Summer 2007), Reth have had supports to Cephalic Carnage, Blood Duster, Crowpath, Melt Banana, Khanate, Deranged, The Red Chord, Slit, Suicide Silence, Genghis Tron (twice) & The Berzerker and also have shared the stage with more of the UK's current crop of diverse favourites, proving their own ability to be placed on any bill; Soulfracture, Raise The Dead, Bloodstream, Mel Gimpsuit, Errander, Microsleeper, Postmortem Promises, Whores Whores Whores, Amputated, Mistress, Bossk, RSJ, Madman is Absolute & Rolo Tomassi.

Reth duly continue to improve, tighten and intensify their tech-grind-sludge-groove hybrid, and now as we enter Summer 2007, with their first official 'proper' recording almost complete, they intend to turn some heads even more during 2008.'
